Accessibility Statement
Effective 18 September 2026 · Last updated 18 September 2026
We want everyone to be able to read this site, find our hours and get in touch, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
The standard we aim for
This site is built to target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the benchmark referenced by U.S. Department of Justice guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act. We test as we build, but we do not claim the site is perfect, and we would rather hear about a problem than not.
What is built in
- Accessibility controls. The button at the bottom-left of every page turns on high contrast, larger text, a dyslexia-friendly font, or reduced motion. Your choices are remembered on your device.
- Colour contrast. Text and background combinations were measured against the WCAG AA thresholds, including text sitting over photography and video.
- Keyboard use. Everything interactive can be reached and operated with a keyboard, focus outlines are visible, and a skip link jumps straight to the main content.
- Motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, the background video holds a still frame and animations are switched off. The same is available manually in the accessibility panel.
- Images and video. Meaningful images have descriptive alternative text, decorative ones are hidden from screen readers, and video is silent and purely decorative.
- Forms. Every field has a real label rather than relying on placeholder text, and errors are announced in text, not by colour alone.
- Structure. Headings run in order, landmarks are marked up, and the page works at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
- The short videos of drinks being made have no captions, because they contain no speech or meaningful audio. They are silent and decorative, and nothing on the site is explained only in a video.
- The dyslexia-friendly setting uses fonts already installed on your device rather than downloading a specialist typeface, so the exact result varies between devices.
- Google Maps, which opens in a new tab from the Find Us section, is a third party and outside our control.
